HOUSTON, TX (March 23, 2026) – Friday night, a man died in a brutal pedestrian crash on IH-69 Eastex Freeway near Crosstimbers.

The incident happened when a vehicle struck a man on foot in the HOV lanes of IH-69 Eastex Freeway northbound near Crosstimbers, according to authorities.

Preliminary information from Houston METRO indicated a man ran across the freeway and was struck by a northbound vehicle. He was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Officials said the crash involved a non-METRO vehicle.

Houston police, METRO police, and other first responders were at the scene. Authorities closed the HOV lanes and two additional northbound lanes of IH-69 during the investigation.

Drivers were advised to expect significant delays and use alternate routes. Multiple agencies, including the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, TxDOT Houston, and Houston TranStar, responded.
