1 Dead in Hillsboro Pedestrian Accident on Interstate 35 and Mile Marker 369

HILLSBORO, TX (February 4, 2026) – Tuesday morning, a motorist died in a brutal pedestrian crash on Interstate 35 and Mile Marker 369.

The incident happened at around 5:12 a.m. on the southbound Interstate 35 at Mile Marker 369.

A Hillsboro DPS officer responded to a stranded motorist who said they had run out of gas. The officer offered to get fuel so the person could return home.

While the officer was away, passing drivers called 911 after seeing the motorist standing near the roadway. When the officer returned with gas, the officer reported the motorist had been struck by a vehicle and requested emergency medical assistance. Life-saving measures were immediately provided.

Additional resources were dispatched, and southbound I-35 was temporarily shut down as a precaution. Hillsboro DPS Fire Rescue transported the motorist to Hill Regional Medical Center, where the person later died from their injuries. Next of kin has been notified.

The Hill County Sheriff’s Office, Texas Department of Transportation, and AirEvac Air Medical also responded.

The cause of the incident remains under investigation.
