According to the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, the crash happened around 8:15 a.m. at the intersection with Hook Lane, just outside the Lee’s Summit city limits.

Reports say that the bicyclist was riding along the roadway when a dump truck driven by a Kansas City man struck him.

Emergency crews transported the injured man to a nearby hospital with life-threatening injuries. The dump truck driver remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.
