Buddie Marce Thompson, 92, Dies in Rear-End Crash on Highway 84 [Mexia, TX]

Mexia, TX (April 29, 2026) – Buddie Marce Thompson, a 92-year-old driver, was killed in a vehicle crash on Highway 84 Tuesday morning.

The fatal vehicle crash happened around 8 a.m. east of Mexia.

Officers said the victim was driving a westbound a 2009 Volkswagen Beetle on the highway when the vehicle stopped at the main lane to make a left turn.

Suddenly, the Volkswagen was rear-ended by a 2018 Toyota SUV. The impact pushed the Volkswagen to the eastbound lane and was hit by an eastbound big rig.

Responding officers declared Thompson dead at the crash scene.
