Martin Enrique Cazares Arrested in Deadly Multi-Car Crash Near Templin Highway

Castaic, CA (November 11, 2025) — 60-year-old Bulmaro Alvarez Chavez died late Saturday night after being ejected from his vehicle during a multi-car crash involving a suspected drunk driver on the northbound 5 Freeway near Templin Highway.

The crash happened around 11:10 p.m. when California Highway Patrol officers arrived and found the driver of a white Jeep Cherokee, identified as Chavez, who had been ejected from his vehicle and sustained fatal injuries.

Authorities arrested 21-year-old Martin Enrique Cazares of Wasco, the driver of a silver Toyota Camry, after determining he was under the influence at the time of the crash. Cazares was booked into the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station on charges of felony DUI and felony vehicular manslaughter.

The incident remains under investigation by the CHP Newhall Area Office.
