Bus Driver Hurt in Deadly 2-Car Crash on Highway 97 [Leavenworth, WA]

Leavenworth, WA (December 9, 2025) — A deadly crash on Highway 97 early Saturday left one person dead after a vehicle collided with a Cascade School District bus carrying a high school wrestling team along Highway 97.

Officials said the driver of the vehicle lost control on icy roads and crashed into the bus near Knapps Tunnel. The impact killed the driver of the smaller vehicle.

The bus was transporting students to a wrestling tournament in the Leavenworth area. While the bus driver suffered a non-life-threatening injury, all students, along with their coach, were examined as a precaution and found to be unharmed.
