Passenger Caleb Bay Killed in Vehicle Crash on S Lake Shore Drive [Washington, MO]

2 Transported in S Lake Shore Drive Deadly Crash

Washington, MO (February 28, 2025)Caleb Bay, 22, of Union, was killed in a solo-vehicle crash on S Lake Shore Drive late Wednesday night.

It was around 11:17 p.m. when a 2023 Kia Stinger left the road and struck a fire hydrant and the concrete base of a flagpole.

The driver, Gabriel Lopez, 26, of Washington, was trapped in the vehicle. Responding officers declared him deceased at the scene.

Also, Caleb Bay, who was a passenger in the vehicle, was thrown from the car and died in the collision.

The paramedics rushed another passenger, Alese Jennemann, 22, of Union, to a St. Louis hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Rescuers also transported a third passenger, Lacie Roy, 24, of Union, to a hospital with minor injuries. Officers said Roy was the only occupant wearing a seat belt when the collision happened.

Washington Police are still investigating the cause but believe that speed was a contributing factor in the accident.
