Three Killed, Including Child, in Blanco County Crash on U.S. 281

Austin, TX (March 7, 2025) – 27-year-old Annett Morales, 4-year-old Carlos Morales IV, and 71-year-old Larry Higgins were killed after a 3-car crash on US 281.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the deadly incident happened at about noon on northbound U.S. 281 near FM 1323.

Authorities say that a devastating three-vehicle crash in Blanco County claimed the lives of three people, including a 4-year-old, around noon on March 5.

Reports say that a Chevrolet Trax attempted to turn left onto northbound U.S. 281 from FM 1323 but failed to yield. The Trax collided with a southbound Toyota Tacoma, causing the Tacoma to spin into the northbound lane, where a Toyota 4Runner struck it.

The crash killed at the scene. The Toyota Tacoma’s driver, the Chevrolet Trax’s driver, and a passenger in the 4Runner sustained serious injuries and were transported to the hospital.

Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the crash.
