41-Year-Old Pedestrian Killed in 101 Freeway Traffic Collision

Sausalito, CA (August 31, 2022) On Tuesday morning, 41-year-old Carlos Rios of Vallejo died after a Dodge Caravan fatally struck him in the No. 3 lane of Highway 101.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal traffic collision happened at around 4:35 a.m. at the Spencer Avenue offramp of the 101 Freeway.

Reports say that Rios was in the middle of the freeway when the Dodge fatally struck the pedestrian. It is not yet known why he was in the middle of the highway.

Moreover, the collision blocked all southbound lanes of the highway, and officials reopened the lanes at around 7:45 a.m.

Authorities say that the Dodge driver stayed at the scene and cooperative with investigators. Officials say that impairment did not play a factor in the crash.

The CHP is investigating the traffic collision and has not released further information at this time.

Furthermore, the Marin County Coroner’s office identified Rios on Wednesday.
