PHOENIX, AZ (March 11, 2025) – Sunday morning, Catherine King died in a fatal vehicle crash on Loop 202 near 40th Street.

The incident happened at around 5:20 a.m. on Loop 202 near 40th Street.

According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, a car struck a driver who exited her vehicle to provide aid to a Dodge Durango that had a tire blowout and crashed into the median wall. Also, authorities said that the car’s driver swerved to avoid a collision with the crashed Durango.

Moreover, responders rushed the victim, identified as 51-year-old King, to a hospital where she was later pronounced dead.

Furthermore, officers confirmed that the driver of the vehicle that struck King sustained minor injuries and was transported to a hospital for treatment.

Also, officers said that a series of crashes followed that first incident.

At this time, the events leading to the crash remained unclear. When additional information becomes available, the public will be notified.

Due to limited information, the Arizona Department of Public Safety continued investigating the crash.
