Cecilia Cuadros Dies in Tragic Crash on 59th Avenue [Phoenix, AZ]

Phoenix, AZ (June 20, 2025) — A high-speed collision in west Phoenix claimed the life of 43-year-old Cecilia Cuadros and left two others injured late on June 18.

Officers responded to a two-vehicle crash near 59th Avenue and McDowell Road at approximately 10:45 p.m. Witnesses reported that a black pickup truck was traveling at a high rate of speed when it struck a white passenger vehicle.

Investigators said the pickup driver allegedly ran a red light before the collision. The force of the crash pushed the white vehicle into a nearby business, while the pickup truck crashed into a light pole.

The driver of the white vehicle, identified as Cuadros, suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene. A 20-year-old passenger in her vehicle was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The 21-year-old pickup truck driver sustained life-threatening injuries and was transported to a hospital. Authorities said he is expected to face charges after being released. Police also noted that the driver showed signs of impairment.

Investigators believe both speed and impairment played significant roles in the crash. The investigation remains ongoing.
