Riverside Woman Injured in Early-Morning Rollover Crash on US 97

Okanogan County, WA (December 24, 2025) — 24-year-old Cecilya Romero Salazar of Riverside suffered injuries early Friday morning after a pickup truck rolled off the roadway on US Highway 97 in Okanogan County.

According to authorities, the crash happened around 2:40 a.m. near milepost 293 when a northbound Chevrolet Colorado left the road, rolled down an embankment, and came to rest on its passenger side.

Authorities said the driver lost control of the vehicle under circumstances that remain under investigation.

The driver, identified as 29-year-old Colt R. Hatch of Riverside, was wearing a seatbelt and was not hurt. The passenger, Romero Salazar, was not restrained at the time of the crash and sustained injuries. Paramedics transported her to Mid Valley Hospital for treatment.

Investigators listed DUI as a factor in the collision, though it remains unclear who was impaired. No other vehicles were involved, and no fatalities were reported. The pickup truck was declared a total loss. The Washington State Patrol continues to investigate the incident.

When we’re behind the wheel, we’re not just driving for ourselves—we’re part of a larger community that shares the road. That’s why it’s so important to drive responsibly, stay alert, and respect the rights of others. Safe driving doesn’t just protect you; it protects your family, neighbors, and even strangers traveling alongside you.

Together, we can reduce the number of traffic collisions and create safer roads for everyone. Let’s commit to driving with care, staying focused, and taking responsibility for our actions.

And remember: seatbelts save lives. Whether you’re the driver or a passenger, buckling up is one of the simplest and most effective ways to prevent serious injury in a crash.

Wearing a seatbelt can significantly reduce the risk of serious injury in a crash. Drivers are urged to avoid impaired driving and use extra caution, especially during early morning hours.
