Chain-Reaction Crash on Highway 99 Claims a Life [Stockton, CA]

Stockton, CA (November 27, 2025) — Early Sunday morning, a deadly chain-reaction crash on Highway 99 in Stockton left one man dead and another facing a DUI arrest.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal crash happened around 5:11 a.m. near Arch Road.

Officials said the driver of a Toyota lost control for unknown reasons around 5:11 a.m. and struck a concrete divider. The damaged Toyota came to rest sideways in the northbound lanes. A BMW driver stopped on the shoulder to offer help.

Minutes later, a speeding Nissan slammed into the driver’s side of the Toyota, then continued into the rear of the parked BMW. The Nissan driver and passenger allegedly ran east into a nearby orchard after the collision.

Emergency crews rushed the Toyota driver to the hospital, but he died from his injuries. The BMW’s occupants were not hurt.

Authorities later found the Nissan driver attempting to get into a rideshare vehicle and took him into custody on suspicion of drunk driving.
