Elementary School Staff Member Killed in Multi-Vehicle Crash Involving School Bus in Ste. Genevieve County

Ste. Genevieve County, MO (December 20, 2025) — On Friday morning, a deadly chain-reaction crash on Highway A involving a school bus, a semitruck, and two passenger vehicles claimed one life and left several others injured.

According to authorities, the collision happened shortly before 7:30 a.m., east of Interstate 55.

Authorities reported that a westbound semitruck slowed to allow a vehicle to turn when a car struck the semi from behind. A second vehicle then rear-ended that car, forcing one of the vehicles into the eastbound lanes, where it collided head-on with a school bus.

The driver of the car involved in the head-on crash, a 50-year-old staff member at Bloomsdale Elementary School, died at the scene. The school bus, which served special education students for the Ste. Genevieve County R-II School District, was also damaged in the crash.

Officials reported several injuries, including two people with minor injuries and one person with moderate injuries. The school district released students early and made counseling services available to support students and staff affected by the tragedy.
