According to the Midland Police Department, the crash happened around 11:40 p.m. on May 2 near Cotton Flat Road and the Interstate 20 south service road.

Investigators said a 2025 Nissan Versa was traveling eastbound in the 2300 block of Sunglo, also known as West County Road 110, when the driver reportedly ran a stop sign. The vehicle then struck a cement curb and became airborne over a retention pond.

The impact caused major damage to the car and left both occupants with severe injuries. Emergency crews transported the driver and passenger, identified as Trost, to Midland Memorial Hospital.
