Chaotic Collision on Garnet Avenue Kills 32-Year-Old Man [San Diego, CA]

San Diego, CA (July 25, 2026) — A 32-year-old man lost his life, and three others suffered minor injuries after a speeding Porsche caused a nine-vehicle chain-reaction collision on Garnet Avenue in Pacific Beach on Wednesday evening.

The collision happened around 7:59 p.m. near the intersection of Garnet Avenue and Mission Bay Drive in San Diego. According to investigators, a 59-year-old man driving a Porsche Cayman at a high rate of speed crashed into the rear of a Kia that was stopped at a red light. The impact set off a chain reaction involving nine vehicles.

Emergency responders transported the Kia driver to a hospital, where he later died from his injuries. Three occupants of other vehicles involved in the pileup received treatment for minor injuries.

Police arrested the Porsche driver at the scene on suspicion of gross vehicular manslaughter. Investigators determined that alcohol did not contribute to the crash.
