81-Year-Old Chehalis Woman Injured in I-5 Big Rig Crash [Thurston County, WA]

Thurston County, WA (March 26, 2026) – An 81-year-old Chehalis woman was injured following an I-5 big rig crash Wednesday morning.

It was past 8 a.m. when the collision happened on the southbound freeway, near 93rd Avenue Southwest.

The accident report stated that a van driver, a 55-year-old Oakville man, left the roadway as he was about to exit to State Route 121 and rear-ended the big rig that was parked on the right shoulder.

Rescuers airlifted the van driver to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, while the  van passenger, an 81-year-old Chehalis woman, was taken to MultiCare Capital Medical Center in Olympia. 

Officers said the big rig driver, a 27-year-old man from Troutdale, Oregon, was not injured in the collision. 

Meanwhile, the authorities are investigating if DUI was a factor, and stated that no other people were involved in the crash.
