Child Hospitalized After Crash on Mangrove Avenue in Chico
CHICO, CA (September 19, 2025) — A child sustained non-life-threatening injuries after a crash on Mangrove Avenue on Friday.
Reportedly, a car veered off Mangrove Avenue, struck the child on the sidewalk, and crashed into a Boost Mobile storefront, the Chico Police Department said.
Officers responded at 1:10 p.m. and confirmed the car was heading northbound before leaving the roadway.
Paramedics transported the child to a hospital, and police said the initial prognosis is promising. No one else was injured.
Police reported the driver remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. They added that alcohol or drugs were not factors in the crash.
Chico Code Enforcement evaluated the building’s structural damage; officials did not disclose the severity in their update.
The investigation is ongoing.
