10-Year-Old Child Injured in Pedestrian Accident on Rios Canyon Road [El Cajon, CA]

El Cajon, CA (April 15, 2024) –  A 10-year-old child was injured following a pedestrian accident on Rios Canyon Road Sunday evening.

It was about 6 p.m. when the accident happened near Olde Highway 80.

Investigators said an El Cajon man driving a white GMC pickup was northbound on Rios Canyon Road when the victim ran from the right shoulder going west.

Immediately, the child was taken to Rady Children’s Hospital with major injuries.

CHP said the driver didn’t appear to be under the influence of alcohol when the accident on Rios Canyon Road happened.
