Police Investigate Fatal Crash on Willow Glen Drive in Houston

HOUSTON, TX (November 28, 2025) — A heartbreaking incident unfolded on Thanksgiving morning when a young child lost his life after being struck by a pickup truck in a crash on Willow Glen Drive. 

The collision occurred around 11:35 a.m. in the 5200 block of Willow Glen Drive. According to the Houston Police Department, the child was riding his bicycle when he was fatally struck by a pickup truck driven by a 70-year-old man. 

Authorities report that the driver immediately stopped, called 911, and cooperated fully with police.

HPD Lt. Va’Shawnda McLean of the Vehicular Crimes Division stated that the driver initially believed an object had fallen from his truck. 

Upon exiting the vehicle, he discovered a bicycle lodged beneath it and then tragically found the young boy in the street.

Investigators have indicated that speed does not appear to be a contributing factor in the accident. 

The Houston Police Department is reminding both parents and motorists to remain vigilant, especially during the busy holiday season when children may be outside playing and neighborhoods are more active.

Lt. McLean emphasized the importance of supervision without assigning blame, stating, “Children are going to be children, and they need supervision at all times. 

That’s not to say fault lies with the parents or the driver — it’s simply a reminder.”
