Christopher Lucero of Hale Center Dead in Multi-Vehicle Crash on US 84 [Lubbock, TX]

Lubbock, TX (May 22, 2025) – 37-year-old Christopher Lucero of Hale Center and 59-year-old Jerry Crisp were killed in a multi-vehicle crash on US 84 early Thursday morning.

The fatal crash happened past 5 a.m. near Southeast Drive and Slaton Road.

Officers said two motorcycles, a pickup truck, an SUV, the train, were involved in the collision.

According to Texas DPS, Crisp was riding his motorcycle eastbound on the freeway when he drove onto the center median and struck the cable barrier. 

Afterward, his bike stopped in the westbound lanes and was hit by the SUV.

The SUV landed in a ditch near the train tracks after being struck by the train. Officers said the driver was not hurt. 

The other motorcycle then entered the roadway from the shoulder that separates the center median and the left lane of the freeway.

Christopher Lucero struck a pickup truck that was driving in that lane. 

Responding officers declared Crisp deceased at the scene. Lucero was rushed to UMC where he later succumbed to his injuries. 

Investigators said Crisp was not wearing a helmet and Lucero was.

The pickup driver was treated for minor injuries.
