18-Year-Old Christopher Rhoton Dies in US 59 2-Vehicle Crash

2 Dead in Nacogdoches Vehicle Collision

Nacogdoches, TX (April 22, 2026) – Christopher Rhoton, 18, of Nacogdoches, was fatally injured following a US 59 vehicle crash Saturday morning.

The deadly 2-vehicle crash happened before 10 a.m. at the intersection of FM 941.

According to the authorities, a vehicle driven by Asher Heidrich, 27, of Nacogdoches, was northbound on FM 941, while at the same time, another vehicle, driven by Michael Smith, 45, also of Nacogdoches, was traveling northeast on U.S. 59.

Troopers said Heidrich did not yield the right of way at a stop-controlled intersection, and pulled into Smith’s path.

Heidrich and his passenger, Rhoton, were killed in the collision.

Smith, on the other hand, sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was hospitalized.
