Deputy Clinton Cope Injured in E 14th Street Collision [Curry County, NM]

Curry County, NM (July 22, 2026) – Curry County Sheriff’s deputy Clinton Cope, 34, of Clovis, and Aaron Johnson, 31, also of Clovis, were injured in an E 14th Street collision Sunday morning.

The collision happened past 9:30 a.m. at the intersection with Norris Street.

According to the accident report, Cope, was responding to assist in a vehicle pursuit when the accident happened.

Cope’s pickup was damaged on its front end, while Johnson’s vehicle was upside down following the collision.

Both drivers sustained injuries and were rushed to Plains Regional Medical Center.
