Motorcycle Rider Suffers Serious Injuries After Crash on Staghorn Drive in Longmont
Longmont, CO (March 28, 2026) — On Tuesday afternoon, a motorcyclist sustained serious injuries following a collision on Airport Road in Longmont.
Police responded around 2:54 p.m. to the area of Airport Road and Staghorn Drive, just south of Nelson Road. At the scene, responders found the rider badly hurt and transported them to a hospital for urgent treatment.
Investigators believe the crash may have occurred when a sedan attempted a U-turn in front of the motorcycle, leading to the collision. The driver of the sedan did not report any injuries.
Authorities closed southbound Airport Road for about an hour and a half while crews worked the scene and gathered evidence. The roadway later reopened as the investigation continued.
Let’s Avoid Traffic Accidents
Avoiding auto accidents involves paying attention and practicing safe driving methods. And as always, you should follow the speed and traffic laws, and don’t text (or use your phone in any way) behind the wheel.
Keep a safe trailing distance to be able to stop, if necessary.
Do not drink and drive, and never get behind the wheel if you are under the influence of alcohol or drugs, or if you are tired.
Watch your mirrors and use your turn signals, and check your blind spots, before changing lanes or making a turn. Drive calmly and patiently, especially in heavy traffic or bad weather.
When you drive responsibly and remain alert, you help prevent accidents and keep everyone on the road safe.
Motorcyclists are highly vulnerable in traffic, especially during sudden turns or lane changes. Drivers should check carefully before making U-turns and always yield to oncoming vehicles. A split-second decision can have life-changing consequences.
Life After a Traffic Collision
The effects of a traffic accident often go far beyond the moment it happens. Even after vehicles are removed from the road, the consequences can linger. Injuries may range from minor cuts and bruises to severe, life-altering trauma. In addition to physical pain, many victims face emotional stress, mental strain, and financial challenges that can make recovery even more difficult.
