Traffic Collision on Broad Street Injures 56-Year-Old E-Bike Rider [San Luis Obispo, CA]

San Luis Obispo, CA (December 6, 2025) — On Tuesday afternoon, a 56-year-old e-bike rider sustained a life-threatening head injury after a shocking collision on Broad Street.

According to authorities, the horrific crash happened just before 4 p.m. near Broad and South Streets.

Emergency crews found the man lying in the southbound lane of Broad Street with a severe head wound.

Investigators say he was riding an e-bike without a helmet when a Subaru Outback, driven by a 29-year-old woman, struck him. Fire personnel provided immediate medical care before transporting him to a nearby hospital.

The SUV driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with authorities. Police do not believe impairment played a role in the crash. Due to the seriousness of the incident, both directions of Broad Street were shut down for several hours as officers investigated.
