Two People Killed in Crash on Golden State Freeway in Downey

Downey, CA (November 29, 2025) — late Wednesday evening, 2 people were found dead after a tragic collision on Golden State Freeway.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the shocking crash happened around 11:37 p.m. on the southbound Golden State (5) Freeway near the Lakewood Boulevard off-ramp.

Reports say that officers found a gray car and another vehicle stopped in the middle lanes, along with both victims.

Paramedics from the Downey Fire Department pronounced the victims dead at the scene. Investigators have not yet released their identities.

The collision shut down several southbound lanes for more than three hours while crews conducted their investigation and cleared the freeway.
