Head-On Collision on Highway 50 Under Investigation [Franklin County, MO]

Franklin County, MO (August 30, 2026) — A 55-year-old man died, and a 48-year-old woman suffered serious injuries after a head-on collision on Highway 50 in Franklin County, Missouri, Thursday afternoon.

The crash happened around 2:07 p.m. on U.S. 50 east of Missouri Route BB, west of Union, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

Authorities said the man was driving a Nissan Altima eastbound when he attempted to pass several vehicles. A woman driving a Nissan Maxima tried to avoid the Altima, but the vehicles collided head-on and left the roadway.

Emergency responders pronounced the man dead at the scene. The woman sustained serious injuries and received treatment at a local hospital.
