Chain-Reaction Collision on Interstate 5 Prompted EMS Response [Lacey, WA]

Lacey, WA (December 9, 2025) — On Thursday morning, a semi-truck hauling vehicles jackknifed and caused a chain-reaction collision on Interstate 5 causing emergency services to the scene.

According to the Washington State Department of Transportation, the shocking incident happened on the northbound I-5 at around 7:29 a.m. near milepost 109 by Martin Way East, setting off a chain-reaction crash that involved multiple vehicles and caused a long traffic backup.

Troopers said the semi-truck lost control while traveling too fast for the road conditions and following a slowing school bus too closely. To avoid hitting the bus, the driver swerved, causing the truck to jackknife.

The crash ultimately involved six vehicles and the school bus. No children were on the bus at the time.
