Castaic, CA (June 24, 2025) — A collision on Interstate 5 involving two big rigs and another vehicle temporarily closed all southbound lanes of the interstate near Castaic early Monday, causing significant traffic delays during the morning commute.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred around 4:43 a.m. on the southbound Golden State (5) Freeway just south of Smokey Bear Road.

Authorities said the crash resulted in minor injuries, and one person was taken to a nearby hospital for evaluation. Officials issued a SigAlert as traffic was diverted through the center median while crews worked to clear the scene.
