University of San Diego Student Dies After Collision With San Diego Police Vehicle in Linda Vista

San Diego, CA (June 30, 2025) — On Wednesday morning, a University of San Diego student died after a collision on Linda Vista Road in the Linda Vista neighborhood involving a San Diego Police Department patrol vehicle.

According to authorities, the incident happened around 1:30 a.m. in the 5800 block of Linda Vista Road near Goshen Street. An officer driving a marked patrol vehicle westbound reported feeling an impact, turned around to investigate, and found a man lying in the roadway. The officer immediately began providing first aid.

San Diego Fire-Rescue crews transported the victim to a local hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

The collision prompted the closure of Linda Vista Road between Goshen Street and Brunner Street for several hours while the San Diego Police Department’s Traffic Unit and Collision Investigations Bureau examined the scene. The roadway reopened shortly before 6 a.m.

Investigators identified the victim as a white man in his early 20s. Authorities later determined, based on evidence and witness statements, that he appeared to have intentionally entered the roadway.
