Pedestrian Injured After Vehicle Collision on SR-16 Off-Ramp in Tacoma
Tacoma, WA (June 7, 2025) — On Friday afternoon, a 55-year-old pedestrian suffered injuries after a shocking collision on State Route 16 in Tacoma.
According to the Washington State Patrol, troopers responded to the westbound State Route 16 off-ramp to Center Street shortly after 2:25 p.m. Initial reports classified the incident as a hit-and-run, but authorities later confirmed that the driver returned to the crash site.
Emergency crews from Tacoma Fire and the Washington State Department of Transportation assisted at the scene, prompting the temporary closure of the off-ramp.
Paramedics transported the pedestrian to a hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening. Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the collision.
Stop Pedestrian Accidents
To help avoid pedestrian accidents, drivers and pedestrians alike should be increasingly vigilant and watch out for each other. Drivers have to make sure to slow down in crowded areas, watch for people crossing and not get distracted, like by texting.
Pedestrians should cross only where they are supposed to, heed the traffic lights and attempt to establish eye contact with drivers before they step off the curb. If you’re walking at night, wear something bright or reflective so you’re easier to see. Do not walk and use a phone, or wear headphones, on the road.
Pedestrian crashes can happen in an instant, especially near busy ramps and intersections. Drivers should remain alert, reduce speed in high-traffic areas, and watch carefully for pedestrians. Staying attentive behind the wheel can help prevent serious injuries and save lives.
What Happens After a Traffic Collision?
The aftermath of a traffic accident can feel overwhelming. Between medical appointments, time away from work, insurance calls, and mounting bills, pursuing compensation on your own can be stressful and time-consuming.
That’s why one of the most important steps you can take after a crash is speaking with a personal injury attorney. Having legal guidance can significantly ease the burden. An experienced attorney understands how to investigate the accident, collect evidence, handle insurance companies, and protect your rights throughout the claims process.
Without legal support, many people find the process confusing and frustrating—and some end up receiving far less compensation than they deserve, or none at all. You shouldn’t have to suffer additional hardship because of someone else’s negligence.
At Sweet Lawyers, our seasoned attorneys handle the legal complexities so you can focus on healing and moving forward. We work on a contingency fee basis, which means there’s no upfront cost—you don’t pay unless we win your case.
