Head-On Collision on SH 158 Kills Belinda Ariel Torrez [Ector County, TX]

Ector County, TX (June 10, 2025) — A Ford driver was injured, and 20-year-old Belinda Ariel Torrez died in a head-on collision on SH 158 early Sunday morning.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the crash happened around 6:00 a.m. on State Highway 158 near West Chinaberry Avenue. A 2018 Hyundai Elantra was traveling westbound when it crossed into the eastbound lanes and collided head-on with a 2022 Ford F-250 pickup truck.

Authorities identified the Hyundai driver as Torrez of Midland. She died at the scene. Investigators reported that she was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

The driver of the Ford sustained minor injuries and was transported to Medical Center Hospital in Odessa for treatment.

The cause of the collision remains under investigation.
