People Injured in Milam County Deadly Crash

Milam County, TX (December 26, 2025) – Cooper Andrew Elsik, 18, of Georgetown, and his 17-year-old female passenger, were killed in a HWY 79 collision Wednesday evening.

It was before 7 p.m. when the deadly three-vehicle crash happened west of County Road 334.

According to the authorities, a white 2008 Dodge Ram 3500 dual-wheel pickup truck was towing a black 2007 homemade utility trailer while traveling east on Highway 79. A 60-year-old Lufkin man was driving the Ram.

At the same time, a 2019 Ford Escape driven by Elsik was traveling west on the same freeway.

According to the investigators, the Ram failed to maintain a single lane of travel and crossed into the westbound lane. It drove directly into the path of the Escape and struck it.

Elsik lost control of his vehicle and collided with a 2026 Infiniti QX60 that was traveling behind the Ram.

The three people who were riding the Infiniti were transported to Baylor Scott & White Hospital with serious injuries.

Moreover, responding officers declared Elsik and his 17-year-old passenger, deceased at the scene.

Officers are conducting a further investigation into this deadly crash.
