Suspected DUI Crash on Highway 1 Claim Alberto Martinez Garcia's Life [Moss Landing, CA]

Paulino Hilario De Los Santos Killed, Several Injured in Frightening Collision on Highway 1 in Moss Landing

Moss Landing, CA (May 5, 2025) — A suspected drunk driving crash on Highway 1 in Moss Landing left Paulino Hilario De Los Santos and Alberto Martinez Garcia dead and several others injured Saturday night.

The collision happened around 10:18 p.m. north of Springfield Road, prompting authorities to shut down both directions of the highway for several hours. Investigators said a 51-year-old man driving a GMC pickup southbound crossed the double yellow lines, sideswiped a northbound Ford pickup, and continued into opposing traffic.

The GMC then collided head-on with a Honda sedan traveling behind the Ford.

Emergency crews transported multiple victims to nearby hospitals. Two passengers in the Honda, identified as 33-year-old De Los Santos and 17-year-old Garcia, later died from their injuries. A third occupant of the sedan remains in critical condition.

A woman in the Ford sustained possible injuries, while the other occupants were unharmed.

Authorities arrested the GMC driver after observing signs of intoxication. He faces multiple charges, including driving under the influence and gross vehicular manslaughter, and remains in custody.

Sweet Lawyers extends heartfelt condolences to the families of Paulino Hilario De Los Santos and Alberto Martinez Garcia. Losing loved ones in a tragic crash is deeply painful, and we hope their families find strength and support during this difficult time.

When a Fatal Accident Changes Everything

Losing someone you love in a crash is one of the hardest things anyone can go through. Beyond the deep emotional pain, families are often left facing sudden financial challenges — from medical bills and funeral costs to the loss of income that once helped keep everything together.

During times like these, it’s important to know that you don’t have to face it all alone. A wrongful death claim can help bring a measure of justice and financial relief to families dealing with unimaginable loss.

This kind of claim not only helps cover expenses but also holds the responsible party accountable — whether the crash was caused by distracted driving, speeding, or another act of negligence. It’s a way to stand up for your loved one and make sure their story is heard.

Financial compensation can help ease some of the burden by covering:

  • Funeral and burial costs
  • Medical expenses from the victim’s final care
  • Lost wages and future earnings
  • Emotional loss and companionship

While no amount of money can ever replace someone you love, pursuing justice can bring a sense of closure and help prevent similar tragedies from happening to others.
