Wickenburg, AZ (September 28, 2025) — On Thursday morning, a horrific plane crash near Wickenburg Municipal Airport left 2 people injured.

The Federal Aviation Administration reported that an Alpha Trainer aircraft crashed south of the airport around 6:45 a.m.

Investigators say the plane experienced engine trouble, prompting an emergency landing in the desert near 355th Avenue and Smokehouse Trail. The aircraft flipped upside down upon impact.

The Alpha Trainer, a two-seat plane often used for flight instruction, was heavily damaged.

The Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office and other agencies responded to the crash site. FAA officials are investigating the cause of the accident.
