Injuries Reported in Santa Barbara Motorcycle vs Bicycle Accident on 2200 Gibraltar Road

SANTA BARBARA, CA (July 20, 2026) – Sunday morning, a crippling motorcycle vs bicycle crash on 2200 Gibraltar Road injured two people.

The incident involving a motorcycle and a bike happened at around 10:50 a.m. in the 2200 Gibraltar Road, City Fire Battalion Chief Jon Turner said. 

Meanwhile, personnel from the Santa Barbara City Fire Department, Montecito Fire Department, California Highway Patrol, and other agencies were dispatched to the scene. 

A bicyclist suffered major injuries in a crash involving a motorcycle, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The bicyclist was transported by American Medical Response to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital with major injuries.

The motorcyclist sustained minor injuries and was also taken to a hospital by ambulance.

A CalStar medical helicopter was initially dispatched but was canceled because ground transport was faster.

Gibraltar Road was temporarily closed while CHP officers investigated the crash. Authorities also requested a tow truck to impound the motorcycle as evidence.
