GODLEY, TX (July 13, 2026) – Saturday night, a person died in a horrific multi-vehicle crash on 7600 North State Highway 171.

The multi-vehicle accident involving a motorcycle happened at 6:40 p.m. in the 7600 block of North State Highway 171.

A fatal crash involving two vehicles and a motorcycle shut down Highway 171 for several hours Saturday night, authorities said.

First responders arrived to find all three vehicles on fire. As the response continued, the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office assisted the Godley Police Department with traffic control.

By 8:55 p.m., officials confirmed the incident had become a fatal crash investigation, prompting the closure of Highway 171 in both directions. Motorists were advised to use alternate routes as traffic backed up for several hours.

Fire crews cleared the scene shortly after 10:30 p.m., and the roadway was expected to reopen soon afterward. The Godley Fire Department warned drivers to expect possible lane or road closures in the area the following day as investigators returned to the scene.

The Texas Department of Public Safety is leading the investigation into the cause of the crash. Authorities have not released additional information about the victim.
