Shocking Bus Crash on Alaskan Way South Injures Scooterist [Seattle, WA]

Seattle, WA (August 16, 2026) — On Thursday, a man riding a scooter suffered life-threatening injuries after a horrific crash on Alaskan Way South when a King County Metro bus struck him along the Seattle waterfront.

The Route 57 bus was traveling south on Alaskan Way South when the collision occurred near South Jackson Street at about 4:30 p.m. Seattle police said the crash happened in a crosswalk within a designated bus lane.

Investigators have not determined whether the man was crossing in front of the bus or traveling alongside it when the collision occurred.

Emergency crews transported the man to Harborview Medical Center for treatment. About 30 passengers were aboard the bus, but no other injuries were reported.
