Deadly Crash on Angeles Crest Highway Under Investigation

One Killed, Three Injured After Vehicle Plunges Off Angeles Crest Highway in La Cañada Flintridge

La Cañada Flintridge, CA (August 7, 2026) — A fatal crash on Angeles Crest Highway in La Cañada Flintridge claimed one life and left three others injured late Wednesday night.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash happened around 10:10 p.m. near Mile Marker 26.50. For reasons still under investigation, a vehicle left the roadway and plunged approximately 200 feet down an embankment.

Search and Rescue personnel from the Los Angeles County Fire Department responded to the scene and worked to reach and rescue the occupants trapped inside the vehicle. Although officials initially requested an air ambulance, they later canceled the helicopter response.

Emergency crews transported three occupants to nearby hospitals with stable injuries. Authorities pronounced one person dead at the scene.

As of Thursday morning, both directions of Angeles Crest Highway remained closed while investigators and emergency crews continued their work. Officials redirected traffic to Angeles Forest Highway until the scene could be cleared.

The California Highway Patrol continues to investigate the cause of the crash.
