Pedestrian Crash on Central Road Kills Claudia Alexa Avila [Apple Valley, CA]

Apple Valley, CA (May 18, 2025) — 29-year-old Claudia Alexa Avila of Victorville died Friday night after a vehicle struck her near the intersection of Central Road and Ottawa Road in Apple Valley.

The crash happened around 9:04 p.m. on May 15, 2026. Deputies from the Apple Valley Sheriff’s Station, along with firefighters and paramedics, responded to reports of a vehicle-versus-pedestrian collision.

Investigators said a gray Lexus IS250 traveling northbound on Central Road hit Avila. She suffered severe injuries and died at the scene.

Authorities said the Lexus driver was not injured and stayed at the location while cooperating with investigators.

The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department Major Accident Investigative Team responded to examine the crash. Officials closed portions of Central Road between Ottawa Road and Powhatan Road for about three hours during the investigation.
