San Diego, CA (July 7, 2026) — A 36-year-old man lost his life early Sunday after a vehicle struck him in a horrific pedestrian crash on Clairemont Mesa Boulevard in San Diego’s Kearny Mesa neighborhood.

According to the San Diego Police Department, the crash happened at approximately 1:20 a.m. in the 7300 block of Clairemont Mesa Boulevard.

Investigators said a 42-year-old woman was driving a 2010 Volkswagen Routan eastbound when she hit the pedestrian, who was crossing the roadway outside a marked crosswalk.
