Merced County, CA (September 30, 2026) — On Tuesday morning, a frightening crash on Dale Avenue left a 1-year-old child with head and ear injuries after being struck by a vehicle.

Merced County Fire, City Fire, the Merced County Sheriff’s Office and the California Highway Patrol responded at approximately 11:30 a.m. to Dale Avenue and Keely Avenue for a reported vehicle-pedestrian collision.

Responders found the child near a home in the 1800 block of Dale Avenue. Investigators reported that the vehicle involved had been parked at the residence when it struck the child.

Emergency crews airlifted the young victim to Valley Children’s Hospital in Madera for treatment of the injuries.

Authorities had not released additional information about the child’s condition, and the crash remained under investigation.
