Police Investigate Crash on FM 8 and TX 16 in Desdemona
Desdemona, TX (April 3, 2026) – A Spearman ISD van was involved in a crash on FM 8 and TX 16 on Friday in Eastland County after the driver reportedly ran a stop sign, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.
DPS said the van was traveling westbound on FM 8 in Desdemona when the driver failed to stop at the intersection with TX 16.
A Honda Accord traveling southbound on TX 16 then collided with the van.
Authorities said all students riding in the van, along with the driver, were taken to Stephenville Hospital with minor injuries, including scrapes and bruises.
DPS also said the driver of the Honda Accord suffered more serious injuries and was airlifted to Harris Hospital in Fort Worth for treatment.
Following the crash, Superintendent James Layman drove to Stephenville to bring everyone home.
The investigation remains ongoing.
