FRESNO, CA (August 14, 2026)— A woman who police say was the victim of an alleged kidnapping was hospitalized Friday night after she was ejected from a vehicle during a crash on Fresno and E streets in downtown Fresno.

According to the Fresno Police Department, officers with the Kerman Police Department were pursuing a vehicle connected to the reported kidnapping of a woman.

The pursuit ended at the intersection of Fresno and E streets when the suspect’s vehicle collided with another passing vehicle.

Fresno Street remained affected by the emergency response and investigation, though officials did not immediately say how long the roadway would remain closed.

The crash and the alleged kidnapping remain under investigation.

A serious collision can be traumatic under any circumstances, but an incident involving an alleged kidnapping, police pursuit, and passenger ejection can create an especially distressing situation for everyone involved.

We hope the hospitalized woman receives the medical care and support she needs, and we also wish the occupants of the other vehicle a full recovery.

Being ejected from a vehicle can result in severe or life-changing injuries. Survivors may require emergency treatment, hospitalization, surgery, rehabilitation, or ongoing medical care.

Even people initially reported to have minor injuries may experience pain, emotional distress, or delayed symptoms in the days following a crash.

At Sweet Lawyers, we understand how complicated the aftermath of a serious traffic collision can become. Injured people may face medical bills, missed work, transportation problems, insurance questions, and uncertainty about who may be responsible for the harm they suffered.

When a crash occurs during a police pursuit or involves alleged criminal conduct, the factual and legal issues can become even more complex.

An investigation may include police reports, pursuit records, witness statements, traffic-camera or surveillance footage, vehicle damage, medical documentation, and other evidence showing how the collision occurred.

Authorities may also review the sequence of events leading up to the crash and the actions of the drivers involved. Because investigations are still ongoing in this case, it is important not to conclude responsibility before all available evidence has been examined.
