Arden-Arcade, CA (January 22, 2026) – A vehicle crash on Fulton Avenue near a busy Arden-Arcade intersection escalated into a violent confrontation involving gunfire Thursday evening, leaving multiple people critically injured.

According to the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office, the incident occurred near the intersection of Fulton Avenue and Hurley Way, close to a 24 Hour Fitness location. 

Deputies confirmed that a shooting took place following a vehicle crash, compounding the severity of the situation.

The Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District reported that two patients were treated at the scene and transported to a hospital with life-threatening injuries.

In a concerning development, Sacramento Metro Fire said the first engine to arrive at the scene was struck multiple times by gunfire. 

Fortunately, no fire personnel were injured during the incident.

Law enforcement responded with significant resources, including the sheriff’s STAR helicopter, a K-9 unit, patrol deputies, and detectives. 

During a press conference, authorities confirmed that two individuals have been detained as investigators work to determine what led to the crash, the altercation, and the subsequent shooting.
