Police Investigate Crash on Highway 101 in San Luis Obispo

SAN LUIS OBISPO, CA (March 26, 2026)— A crash on Highway 101 caused a minor injury and backed up traffic through San Luis Obispo on Thursday afternoon.

According to the California Highway Patrol traffic log, a white Toyota RAV4 and a white Dodge Ram van collided in the northbound lanes of Highway 101 near the Monterey Street off-ramp at about 5:10 p.m.

CHP said one occupant of the van suffered a bruise to the leg and requested an ambulance.

After the collision, the Toyota became stuck in the center divider, and the van blocked the fast lane.

By about 5:25 p.m., crews had cleared both vehicles from the roadway and reopened both northbound lanes. Traffic had slowed significantly near Monterey Street while emergency responders worked at the scene, according to a Caltrans traffic camera.

Later, at about 5:46 p.m., two Kia SUVs were involved in a second crash in the northbound lanes of Highway 101 near the Monterey Street off-ramp.

CHP said that the collision caused minor vehicle damage but did not result in any reported injuries.
