1 Person Dead in Houston Multi-Vehicle Accident on Interstate Highway 69 Southwest and Kirby Drive

HOUSTON, TX (January 9, 2025) – Wednesday morning, a devastating multi-vehicle crash on Interstate Highway 69 Southwest killed one person.

The incident happened at around 2:30 a.m. on Interstate Highway 69 Southwest and Kirby Drive.

According to the Houston Police, a vehicle crashed into the barrier on the freeway for still unknown reasons. Then, the driver exited the vehicle before a second vehicle struck the first vehicle. Also, a third vehicle struck the second vehicle that came to rest in the roadway.

Moreover, authorities confirmed that the male driver of the second car died in the crash. Then, responders transported two occupants of the third vehicle to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Furthermore, officers reported that the driver of the first vehicle who showed signs of impairment, jumped off of the freeway and was in critical condition at the hospital.

At this time, the circumstances that led to the crash remained unclear. Once additional details become available, the public will be notified.

Due to the limited information available, the Houston Police continued investigating the crash.
