Police Investigate Fatal Pedestrian Crash on Kelly Street and Bayview Avenue in Hayward

Hayward, CA (September 17, 2026) – A driver struck and killed a 73-year-old female pedestrian Thursday morning in a crash on Kelly Street and Bayview Avenue.

Hayward police responded to the crash just before 11 a.m. Paramedics rushed the victim to a local hospital, where medical staff later pronounced her dead.

The Alameda County Coroner’s Office will release her identity once confirmed and after notifying her next of kin.

The 48-year-old male driver remained at the scene and cooperated with officers.

While investigators do not suspect alcohol or drugs contributed to the crash, the incident remains under investigation.
