Frightening Crash on Monroe Street Under Investigation [Spokane, WA]

Spokane, WA (May 15, 2025) — A crash on Monroe Street in downtown Spokane Tuesday afternoon left one SUV overturned.

According to authorities, a driver reportedly ran a red light at the intersection of Monroe Street and First Avenue.

Police said the driver of a gray Isuzu Rodeo entered the intersection against a red signal and struck the side of a white Honda Pilot. The impact caused the Honda Pilot to flip onto its roof in the middle of the roadway.

The collision happened shortly after 1:10 p.m. near the Griffin Tavern and across from the Knitting Factory. Spokane police confirmed the crash resulted in minor injuries only.

Authorities cited the Isuzu driver for failure to obey a traffic control device. Investigators said they found no signs of impairment or reckless driving, so no criminal charges were filed.

Tow crews later responded to the scene and turned the overturned Honda Pilot back onto its wheels before removing it from the intersection.
