SPRING, TX (September 18, 2026)— A Spring High School student suffered critical injuries in a crash on North Freeway Friday afternoon after a pickup truck struck the teen while the student was attempting to cross near Louetta Road, according to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies said two teenagers had been at a Home Depot before deciding to cross the freeway on foot.

The other teen continued into the roadway and was struck by the vehicle.

According to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, the pickup truck driver attempted to slow down and avoid hitting the student.

Deputies confirmed that both teenagers attend Spring High School.

Officials did not immediately say whether the students were expected to be in school at the time of the crash.

Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Critically Injured in a Houston-Area Pedestrian Accident? Sweet Lawyers Can Help You Understand Your Options

A pedestrian collision involving a young person can be devastating for a family. We hope the Spring High School student injured in this crash receives the emergency treatment, medical support, and care needed during what is undoubtedly a very difficult time.

Pedestrian accidents can cause severe injuries because people on foot have little protection when struck by a moving vehicle.

Depending on the impact, an injured pedestrian may face head trauma, broken bones, internal injuries, spinal injuries, or other serious medical complications that require extensive treatment and rehabilitation.

At Sweet Lawyers, we understand that families dealing with a serious pedestrian accident may suddenly face many difficult decisions.

Hospital stays, specialist care, follow-up treatment, missed school or work, transportation costs, and insurance communications can create significant stress while everyone is focused on the injured person’s recovery.

Investigations into pedestrian collisions often involve more than simply identifying where the impact occurred.

Authorities may review roadway design, lighting conditions, vehicle speed, driver actions, visibility, witness statements, surveillance footage, and other evidence to better understand the sequence of events.

In cases involving freeway crossings, investigators may also examine the location of barriers, access points, and other roadway features.

Families may find it helpful to preserve records connected to the incident, including police reports, medical documents, photographs, insurance correspondence, receipts, and any available witness information.

These materials can provide important context as questions arise about the collision and its consequences.

An experienced personal injury attorney can review the available information and help explain the legal process and options that may be available based on the specific circumstances.

Every case is different, and no particular result can be guaranteed. However, knowledgeable guidance can help families better understand what steps may be appropriate while they focus on the injured person’s health and recovery.

Sweet Lawyers is committed to helping accident victims and their families with compassion, professionalism, and clear communication.

Serious pedestrian injuries can affect not only the person who was hurt, but also parents, siblings, classmates, and others who care about them.
